Last July 12th Kate Winslet was in Beijing to attend a press conference to promote her new make-up advertising campaign for Lancome.

The British actress opted for a black gown from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2011 collection.

A green, black and silver brooch sits on the asymmetrical neckline to prevent this look from being too plain.

She finished her upscale look with a Sergio Rossi bag and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

A few weeks ago I saw a particular type of bracelet being worn by everyone, everywhere; on the streets, at parties, music festivals … I’ve always wanted to ask from where they are from and why they have become popular so quickly.

I was at the Great Wall electro festival enjoying and dancing the great Fat Boy Slim and I saw a girl wearing it.  She told me she had been wearing it for a while and that they are quite popular where she is from.

Then I remembered that I had seen them in a shop that I already mentioned on this blog.

This is the story…

The idea came up in 2008, when walking around Bogota (Colombia), a Spanish girl feel in love with the simplest bracelet she found.

It was the CHARMS, handmade thread bracelets made by ten knots and a cross.

She bought all the ones she found in the market stand, and when she landed in Madrid (Spain) she didn’t have enough to gave to everyone. She thought to herself, these bracelets have something special.

It was such a simple concept, a piece of threat in different colors, with a small cross hanging from it. However it seduced celebrities such as: Adriana Lima, Shakira, Eugenia Silva, Alejandro Sanz, etc., who wore them around their wrists and ankles.

It became the most wanted accessory of 2010!

These bracelets are now helping the local people of Colombia and today “The Fundación Vida Nueva” sustains more than 400 families are the ones who produce these CHARM Collections, giving them an opportunity for a better future.

You can find them here, they are really cool for summer!!!
